FRESHLY DIPPED*
I had a chance to chop it up with Balance, the proclaimed-"Bay Area Mixtape King". Yes, you are right this is the second Bay Area emcee i've showcased this week. Personally though, I feel that the Bay area WILL be the next region to really pop off nationally (think Houston right now). After our conversation, I am convinced that, when the area pops--Balance will be in the front of the pack. His new street CD finally reached my mailbox, and its aiight man. Although the cd is a tad short on tracks (14), and it might not quench the thirst of long-time Balance heads, it features a grip of Bay area cats and is a great start out point for those who haven't heard of dude. (Quick Edit: go check out Triple Beam Tilt for a fun bag of Balance goodies)
Welcome To Kali
Roll With Me-(ft Chamillionare, Stat Quo)
With the mixtape game really slow rightnow, Mr. Get Familliar drops a street CD promoting the new State Prop movie, hosted by Dame. You know the mixtape game is slow when Big Mike drops 2 radio CDs.
'The Davinci Code' or 'The Smugglers Handbook'?
I had a sneaker highlight all set up--pretty links of the Nike iD dunks, and the CRISPY purple tape kicks--Mita Dunk Hi-but then i looked around and False Crack did it first, then JB did it bigger.
DJ BENZI-go get your refix on..imma fan of the Brooke Valentine/PM Dawn jawn.
Welcome To Jamrock is my first official warm-weather jump off banger. Am I late on this record??
What's next..cyber gats?
"I'm DJ Scratch, bitch!" (copped off allhiphop)
I don't know about this man..career suicide if you ask me. How do you go from Marcellus Wallace or the "African squat fucker" in Baby Boy to the black Kojak who sucks a lollipo (yes,
homo).

WHO? 281-330-8004
El Dorado Red is one of the next dudes to make some noise out in the yay, and im co-signing! In my few brief meetings/discussions with El Dawg-I have continually been impressed with how humble of a dude he really is. With Rick Rock backing him on the boards, i don't see anyway this kid can fail. With a current buzz and radio play on the left coast, his first single "El Dawg" is for sure a banger. Fresh off his new mixtape, El Dawg took to Shade 45 radio this week and let the world know hes here. Check it out. (Biggus to the Demolition men too!)

Ok, so C-Murder can't use pens in jail now Shyne now feels the wrath. The "Son Of Sam" laws prevent offenders from collecting profits while serving time from crimes they've commited.(copped off allhiphop)

G-Unit's "First Lady" drops her first single featuring Lloyd Banks, "Twist It" Word is G-Unit lingerie is right around the corner...thats all i need is my girl in a fucking Young Buck thong.
In other femcee exclusives, Foxy drops the Just-Blazed laced/Jimi Hendrix sampled "Art Of War" (dusty audio copped off spinemagazine--i see the neptune audio link--thats a great look!)
Go check out Tricksta over at Rago Mag--dudes are showing much love!
Contruction has officially begun on the follow up to Be South..be very afraid..lots of Lil Keke, Gucci Mayne, Young Jeezy, Bun B, --who wants to collabo?!?!
Speaking of collabos..Young Caps of The Stencil and Nick Catchdubs, not to be confused with Catchcrabs- are joining creative forces to cook up something fresh soon.
And finally, speaking of mixtapes--this kid Mike Nitty is angry!! Listen to him call out all mixtape DJs NOT playing him..dope way to market yourself.
Y'all know what time it is...
Holla' at a playa when you see me on the street, trick! Ahhhh
Let's keep it ATL today. A couple of years back JimCrow had a buzz with "Holla At A Playa." The buzz was so strong that they went from unsigned/indie to Interscope. The song featured Sean Paul from TheYoungbloodz and the video was creative and featured a ton of ATL celebs. If you are unfamiliar with the group peep this old interview.Unfortunately the group couldn’t capitalize off the song’s momentum. Music giant Interscope couldn’t find a second single that worked, and with that said the album was put on hold permanently. It’s a shame too because from what the sampler had to offer the album was going to be FIYAH. With the album shelved and label problems the group disbanded. Cutty one of the group members can be heard doing the hook on the recent Trillville hit “Some Cut.” He has done some other classic hooks most notably “85” for the Youngbloodz. To this day I wish I could get my hands on that album. I have been unsuccessful even though I have come across people who have the said shelved work. I did manage to get this banger with T.I. called Do It All.If anybody out there has the whole thing you know whatto do…HOLLA AT A PLAYA!

C.R.E.A.M
People, people-so what i took a long weekend?! You didn't think i would make it up to you on Monday? Now, I haven't really been on my NCAA's this year, i did get to watch all the games this weekend, can the final four be better than them? I mean all these games went down to the last minute--i think there was 4 overtimes, UNC rocked the shit out of the Jordan X's (Zebras),
Lil O'Bannon got his thug thizzle on, and all i can say is that these games will completely overshadow the UNC/Louisville championship.
How about this kid Bansky who really did it up this weekend in nyc..Dude hit up 4 museums and smuggled his art INTO the museum--GULLY.
Leg her down, or smack'em jack'em
C-Murda can't get a break in jail--no pens--are you serious?
Peep your man
Spring is slowly creeping up..its time to update the Wristwear and stockpile some Hamptons Footwear. (Footwear related: my brother from another mother JB, linked some dooope Mets colorway Amsterdam AM1's)
Jadakiss=Punk'd
DJ Kool Kid prepares to drop his 3rd installment to his Deisel series. In a game oversaturated with pause tapes and overrated blend DJs, this is a mixtape im actually checking for.
Somebody with too much time on their hands. What a throwback to 80s/90s Sunday morning cartoon commercials.
PSP Jimhats
Deadwood is just that shit..what would i do without Sunday night HBO programming..anyone feel me on this? I mean since the days of Dream On i've been a fan. (Dream On-Seasons 1&2)
2 For 5's (Mixtape Edition AKA yes, it is that slow that im posting mixtape joints)
Papoose-Schrades (Kayslay-Let The Games Begin 3)
Saigon-Through The Years (Whoo Kid-Abandoned Nation 1)
Aight, imma let Herb get his Mike Wilbon on.
What’s Megan really really really Goode? This D.E.B.S shit looks mad cinemax skin flick cheesy but damn if Megan doesn’t look cute in that skirt!
So, we have our final four set and the NBA playoffs areright around the damn corner. With basketball front and center on the sports map, I wanted to ask ever wonder what it would be like to be an NBA 12th man? I’m pretty sure you have had the rapper fantasy, the all-star ball player dream and even being a porn star. I doubt many have dreamed of being an NBA 12th man though. Imagine sitting there game upon game with little to no chance of even breaking a sweat. In our world of blog to me this has to be one of the hottest blogs around. The boy Paul Shirley, the Suns 12th man, breaks down the life of a bench warmer, a pine filler, a professional sitter have you. Paulie is always sarcastic, witty, and insightful. If homeboy gets cut he could at least write a sitcom on UPN or star in a reality show on the network, peep some of his highlights (blogging--not balling).

BREAD AND BUTTER
Aight, I admit im all behind with almost everything, i'm still playing heinz with all the news thats "fit to blog". I'm just going to go at it as if i didn't see any of yall post shit--so back to fucking basics.
"The bitch is mad cause my jams kick like eastbay"
This beans album is gonna need to come with some kind of state prop tylenol or some shit, cause this is gonna have kids sick!
I definitely should've bought those eu footlocker joints when i was in london, mark my words by summer nyc will be full of them.
Liquor+Coke+Hookers=Rehab..
This story was too funny to overlook. Dude gets the 05 Marv Albert award.
Is this Fiona Apple, Extraordinary Machine, new? old? I feel so lost--really. I mean i know its old material, i've actually never heard any of it. For those who care here's the tracklist:
Cooked Crack pushed back.
Ok, so there is still response tracks going on? Is this even real because Jada did no justice here (1) (2) gimme a Styles 16 already!
With opening day around the corner, and at least one open-container ticket waiting for me in the Shea parking lot, im hyped for the Metropoliticians. Now that spring training is wrapping up i see promise. Im defintely not mad at the move they made for another lefty in the rotation, plus Philips was horrid at the end of the year...take the kurt rambis glasses and keep it moving. ESPN sees the light too.
Puffy to make the idol?
On the mixtape side of things-it seems to have slowed down post-piggy bank and responses i still have yet to chew through the whoo kid joints, but im really trying to check this joint--after i heard Tony Sunshine's thugtastic remake of the John Legend joint..terror error's the squad.
A nice healthy collection of tees at turntable lab..the no mas line will get work in the spring.
Aight--im off to go catch up on Deadwood--good to see the Wire got renewed for season 4.
"Ayyo, my man Herb diggy got something to say"
Hey! Hey! Lets all welcome home our man. I was supposed to helm the controls while the kid was away but he refused to give up the keys, I’m not bitter though. While he was shackled up with some buck-toothed UK chick I was beating up some ATL stallion. Aiight I admit that was a bit salty, I’m saying I’m just jelly I didn’t get to smoke high grade with yah.
Lets see what do I want to talk about? Can I do some R&B? I been feeling my man Raheem Devaughn for a while now (No Karamo). I mean he’s been putting it down for Chocolate City (that’s Washington DC for our talcum readers) for a while now. Recently The Source (please don’t ask why I was leafing through that) and Urb both plugged Raheem in their respective mags. Seeing how magazine hipsters/writers might be catching on to the movement its time you do too.
Aight, let me try and describe him without sucking him off? The kid definitely has a dope style--I would say he mantains a definite hip-hop sensibility, but that would be kinda cliché because i'm sure y'all immediately see Jahiem’s grill piece, so lets try again; He hasn't cornered himself into one style--has a universal appeal that caters to all brands of r&b enthusiasts. He has dope conscious joints, the cool upbeat/hip hop joints, the baby maker joints, and the “I can play this for my girl and she will love me and not its not even annoying like Usher and Destiny Child” joints. Fuckit, let the music speak for itself.
The Invitation....Your welcome.
Today wasnt a Good Day.
Just when You thought You had enough of slow jamz.
Even Chingy likes this Hurr.
If you like what you hear, get at Jive and tell them you want them to start pushing his album and make it a priority. By the way am I the only one that remembers that Jive was once the home of KRS-1, Spice-1, E-40, Tribe and other dope rappers. How times change huh? Got N’Sync? Anyway back to Raheem the Dream (again No Karamo) check out the music and the sites, support the kid. As a DC native I feel it’s my duty to big up local, minus go-go which I might do anyway.

ITS SPRING AGAIN!!
THE BOY IS BACK!!! For any of those who haven't taken the trip across the pond--grab your passports, pack a bag--definitely dont forget your wallets, and get it crackin! Five nights in London, three in Amsterdam is for sure, the perfect time-frame for a Euro-getaway. For starters, while some caught M.I.A in Houston, she was indeed MIA at Fabric when i made my way through. Anyway, I got my tourist on..my museum on..and of course, my shop on..heres some quick link vomit..
This dude GF Watts has some serious symbolism going on..I also made the weeded trip to the Van Gogh in Hamsterdam.
The hot shit in London is for sure Carhartt--and on the sneaker tip--these footlocker exlcusy's were popular. I did to grab up my pair of these...adidas is really doing it big.
My new favorite grubspot is definitely Wagamama--Positive Eating+Positive Living!
Lotta shit missed though--and unfortunately, with the 'cuse loss, and UF out--im giving up on the NCAA's and focusing in on Anna Benson
Word is there is another Jada joint aimed at 50, Clue played it last night--and I did catch this Fat Joe heater too.

Get the bitch, get the pussy, get the math im gone! What? It aint no more to it..
I'm gonna let my man bullets handle his own little situation on this thing he called think big..
I wanted to start with this track because its real symbolic. Biggie will forever be linked with Pac in most people’s head. Sadly all the rappers on this song are dead and more tragically through violent means. The original version of this song isn’t that dope. The remix however, has a dope beat and features Joe Hooker aka Harvey Pierre (SP) bka Diddy’s right hand man.
As gully and raw as Biggie was he was a master of the R&B 16. He basically gave the r&b blueprint to Jigga and had he been alive, I would venture to guess Best of Both Worlds would have featured the Real King of New York. I’m not saying Biggie was the originator but he sure did make it chic to lace r&b joints. This is one of my favorites. I was thinking about early Mary J Bilge remixes he appeared on but this song is so polished and his verse just compliments the track so well. In the day of the subliminal, if you listen close you should figure out whom the verse is directed to. I know you loving this fohr.
As smooth as Biggie sounded talking about chicks on r&b tracks he also had a mean pimp hand. I have heard about the original version of “Me and My Bitch” since RTD came out. I finally got my paws on this oft-fabled version. If you didn’t know this version was scrapped due to sample issues. This version is cool but I still prefer not the album version but yet the live version off The Show, with the Computer Love sample. That shit just has so much energy.
What makes an emcee great? The answer to that is subjective. Ask ten people and you might get ten different answers. If you ask me, I really couldn’t come up with a checklist but I would tell you Biggie embodies the definition of a great emcee. Besides the great body of work its other examples like this. I mean most of us suspect he wrote Kim’s shit and here’s proof. He writes the verses and demos the track for her to recite. I mean the ability to write for other artists is one thing but to personify a female through a track to me speaks of his talent.
Are we at number 1 already? This is my number 1 because I think this is the illest Big verse ever . Sorry for the suspect quality but I wanted to put up the original and not the remixed up dressed up bullshit Diddy put out. I remember hearing this off some tape and I sat there trying to memorize every line. The shits is just to raw. Rest In Peace Big. 1.
PS. Extra plout out to Goodfella for help on the audio.

BENTO BOX
Welcome to fuckin Deadwood! We'll the first episode of the second season jumped off last night forrilla, Shootings, fucking, Swearengen one-liners, definitely my must-check for Sunday evenings. Thank God, I couldn't deal with another letdown.
With that said--i'm out for mini Eurotrip this Thurs--imma try to hold it down as much as possible-im grabbing up extra batteries for the digital cam and intend on using this as my bible. I'm sure my St. Patty's day excursion to Amsterdam will be wild--but i'm open for suggestions, as this is my first time over the pond since i was a young chap. If its about sneakers, gear, or music holler at my passport.
My man, i didn't know of any confusion, but its a solid look anyway.

Betcha You Cant do it Like Me (Me and Diddy)
I have heard about Diddy parties for a fucking while now, last night I finally got to party with the man. Was it crazy? Kinda. I mean the club was jam packed to the brim. If you hadn't seen your 3rd cousin for a while, you would probably ran into him/her last night. Highlights you say? Todd Shaw aka Too Short was right there walked right to the left of me. I just wanted to ask aint you to old to be clubbin Todd? I know he's a rapper but please, he must be 45 like the colt I drink. Moving on, Pastor Troy also bumped into me, he apologized(True Story) as he was on his way to escorting a young female to VIP. As for Diddy, he did his 1 2 dance thing and kept shouting out a Jody Breeze album that's soon to come. It wasn't as crazy as I anticipated. I was thinking--he would def buy the bar out and get me right but that never happened. As I write this I should be in court but what can I say, I'm hung over and don't have the energy to drive to College Park. Oh Well. What else you need? Some music?
D4L Betcha You Cant do it Like Me. This shit is bubbling in the ATL underground right now. Features that damn Troy boy doing backup ad-libs. This probably wont ever make your radar and if it does it will probably be 6 months from now.
Random rant cause I can do that (I think), girls that like girls is cute and all till her girl gets in your face for hollering at her girlfriend. I mean you might be Big Lezy but I can still knock you out, FALL THE FUCK BACK. Hold me back kid, I'm Done.
